For the last 6 months I have taken spirulina in the mornings either in powder form mixed into a smoothie, or in tablet form. I have noticed a difference in my skin, my energy levels are more consistent and I don’t get as bloated as usual.
Spirulina contains protein, good fats, vitamins and minerals including vitamin B12, calcium, magnesium and iron. It is suitable for vegans too ? It is a healthy habit that is well and truly ingrained in my morning routine.
This spirulina and blueberry smoothie bowl is really simple and I usually make something like this on a Sunday morning after a cardio workout to get my protein in and a bit of energy to prevent a post workout slump.
Blend together your favourite vanilla protein, frozen bananas, frozen blueberries, almond butter, blue spirulina, chia seeds, your choice of yoghurt and a dash of almond milk (not too much so your smoothie is nice and thick!)
I topped mine with fresh berries, some granola and swirled in some vanilla yoghurt. The combination of ingredients is super nutritious and it fills you up, I made enough for a mid afternoon drink too ?
Blue spirulina will soon be available to order on welcometomade.com ?
