Small changes to your routine yield the best results. Recently I have introduced a daily lemon water to my morning routine to wake up my body and digestive system. It has become a super simple habit and I have already started seeing the benefits.

Simply squeeze the juice of a lemon into hot water. I also pop the lemon chunks in there too to give it even more of a citrus punch. Make sure that you drink it on an empty stomach as soon as you wake up to ensure that you soak up all its goodness.

Not only is a morning lemon water a fresh wake up for your taste buds but it is also packed full of nutritional benefits which detoxifies, hydrates and cleanses the body.

A healthy dose of vitamin C: the juice of half a lemon provides you with a sixth of your daily vitamin C, an important vitamin that supports your immune system, fights off infection and protects the body from cell damage.

Aid digestion: we have acid in our stomachs already which helps to break down our food. The acid that is found in lemons helps to provide the stomach with extra acid – which does decline when we age. It can also help to relieve the symptoms of indigestion such a bloating and heartburn.

A healthy source of potassium: potassium is very important for the normal function of the body from blood pressure regulation to transporting nutrients around the body.

A full cleanse: lemon water helps to flush toxins out of the body as it stimulates the liver by enhancing enzyme function.
